Our History

Moore Lickers was created by Bryan Kerr, the owner of Moore Liquor, when he decided to take his love of animals and create a fun, local, affordable facility for the pets and people of Moore and surrounding cities.  The project started shortly after his friends, Dan & Pam retired and closed down the pawn shop that had occupied the space on the far western end of the same strip mall that had hosted Moore Liquor for 15+ years.

To get the project done, the entire family helped including Bryan’s cousin, Phil, who made a herculean effort to transform the space into a modern, clean, and fully-functional facility that would entice pets and pet owners alike. His brother, Brad, already a well-known and well-liked dog trainer, added his expertise and advice while everyone drew inspiration from Kellee, a former Norman police detective and current head of the Normal Animal Welfare department who had been a caretaker for many different pets and pet projects since she was a little girl growing up in Moore in the ’80s.

The final piece of the puzzle came from their mother who always instilled into her children that they could “do whatever they set their mind to.” She (Gerry), and her twin sister (Terry), were always there to lend a helping hand; whether it meant organizing paperwork/doing the books, moving too-heavy objects, or decorating the space to make it more inviting. Without these two amazing women, there would be no Moore Lickers…or even a Moore Liquor. It really is and always will be a family business.

Our Vision

We hope to do with Moore Lickers what we’ve accomplished with Moore Liquor; offer our friends and neighbors a trustworthy, local business that cares about what they think and gives back to the community. As such, from Day 1, we implemented what we call the “canine cut, ” an ongoing charitable donation we make on behalf of every customer. The “canine cut” is 3% of our gross sales. That means that for every dollar any person spends at Moore Lickers, 3% will go to a local charity that helps animals and people who help animals. As we grow, we plan to increase the “canine cut” to as much as 10%.

We will also host charity events in the facility where we hope to raise larger amounts of money to help control the pet population, support no-kill shelters, and send resources to local rescues who work with animals that need special homes and special care.

Company Founders

Bryan W. Kerr, Owner

Bryan is a lifelong resident of Moore. After being born on a naval base in Virginia in 1968, Bryan's parents (Jim & Gerry) moved the family to Moore in 1969 where Bryan grew up, attending Southgate Elementary, Central Elementary, Kelley Elementary, Highland West, Moore West then Moore High, graduating in 1987.
He started his first business, a mobile DJ service, in his early 20's and has launched several other businesses in Moore, including Moore Liquor in 1996.
He decided to start Moore Lickers after realizing he had a brother and sister who could help turn his love of dogs and cats into a profitable and fun business.

Bradley J. Kerr, Head Trainer

Brad also grew up in Moore. He worked several jobs in the area as a younger man then left town for awhile to become a deputy and police officer in Mississippi, where he met his wife Connie.
They eventually moved back to Moore and Brad took his enjoyment of dogs and created his own business from scratch, calling it "Tipsy Dog Training"; a winking nod to the fact that Brad loved both dogs and whiskey. He has since given up on the drink (mostly) but will never give up on the puppies.
Brad continues to train dogs professionally all over Moore, Norman and S. OKC and has earned the "Best Of Moore & S. OKC" award for three consecutive years.

Kellee T. Robertson, Advisor

Kellee, another lifelong Moore resident, acts as an expert (unpaid) advisor to her brothers. Her knowledge of and care for animals, especially dogs and cats, is hard to match.
She served with the Norman Police Department for many years, as a canine officer and then a detective; protecting the public while at work and always going home to a house full of animals.
Upon retirement from the NPD, she applied for and was offered the position as the head of Animal Welfare for the city of Norman...a job she feels she was born to do and does well every day.
